Description

When we began designing this villa, we were faced with an interesting challenge: the site was located within a residential compound characterized by relatively small plots, while the project program called for a fairly large volume. To address this condition, we chose to fragment the overall mass into smaller components, allowing the project to better align with the scale of the surrounding neighborhood. Each volume accommodates a specific function, and all are connected through glass bridges—maintaining a sense of separation while collectively forming a unified whole.

The site’s unique position played a decisive role in shaping the design. On one side, it opens toward forested mountains; on the other, it faces the sea. To capture both landscapes, the roofs were conceived as framing devices for nature: sloped forms toward the mountains, echoing the rhythm of the ridgelines, and flat planes toward the sea, allowing the eye to move freely toward the horizon.

Ultimately, these two roof conditions were gradually morphed into one another, generating a continuous rhythm that reinforces the dialogue between architecture and its natural context.
